Things You’ll Need
- French press / coffee plunger
- Gooseneck kettle
- Water at 94°C (you can boil water and leave it for a few minutes)
- Scales
- Timer (the one of your phone will do)
- Coffee paddle or something for stirring
- Filter roast coffee
- Cup
STEP 1
Preheat your French Press with hot water whilst you grind your coffee.
STEP 2
Grind your coffee to produce 30g. For best results, freshly ground coffee is preferred. Aim for a coarse grind.
STEP 3
Discard excess water from French Press
STEP 4
Place French Press onto scales and tare.
STEP 5
Place 30g ground coffee into French Press. Tap to level out.
STEP 6
Tare scales and start timer.
STEP 7
Completely saturate coffee with 500g of water. Make sure there are no floating islands of dry coffee. If you have any dry coffee grounds remaining, stir until completely saturated.
STEP 8
Let brew for 5 minutes.
STEP 9
At 5 minutes, agitate cofee using paddle. Circuate around the edge 5 or 6 times.
STEP 10
Place lid on and plunge with gentle pressure.
STEP 11
Pour into your cup and enjoy your coffee!
